Getting Started

with  counseling in Charlotte NC

You're one step closer to feeling like yourself again!

Session & Fee Details

Deciding to start the counseling process is an investment in your mental wellness. When considering the cost of our fees be sure to keep in mind the cost that your mental wellness has on your overall life and ability to function. Our goal is to help you be well.

Fees listed below apply to various situations which might arise during the course of a counseling/therapy relationship. Payments for sessions are due on the day of service. Payments for fees incurred outside of a regular session are due upon receipt of invoice.

Typically, counseling sessions last 50 minutes and occur weekly. The initial session consists of an assessment, which may last longer than 50 minutes or take up to two sessions.

Typical therapy charges:
Due at time of service:
Traditional 1-hour (50 min) session (private pay)  $125

Intake Session (60-90 min) $150

Walk & Talk Therapy (50 min) $125

Ask about our sliding fee scale!
Insurance-covered sessions-  your COPAY for BCBS (Starting 9-1-2019).

Private pay or out of network- we can provide a superbill for you to apply for reimbursement from your insurance provider.

We currently do not accept Blue Value or Blue Local, please inquire about sliding scale fee or OON benefits.

Payment

Currently Kennedy Counseling & Consulting accepts private pay, starting Sept 1, 2019 we will also accept BlueCross Blue Shield of North Carolina. We accept cash, debit, credit or HSA cards.

The benefits to private pay:

  • You are in control of how many sessions you will receive, not the insurance company.

  • Most insurance companies require for you to have a diagnosis. With private pay, you will not have a diagnosis on file.

  • Insurance companies can dictate what kind of therapy you get. You should be in control of what kind of help you receive.

If you wish to use your insurance benefits, your insurance company may be able to reimburse you with out-of-network benefits. The way this works is that we can provide you with an invoice that is called a "superbill" that you may present to your insurance carrier as an out-of-network provider. Out-of-network benefits typically covers about 40%-100% of the cost you pay, but this is based on your insurance plan. It is your responsibility to discuss with your insurance company how much will be reimbursed.

Cancellation Policy

Late Cancel and No-Show Fees

  • If you are unable to attend your appointment, We require a 24 hour notice, and confirmation that we have received that notice.

  • We charge the full rate fee for no-show and late cancel appointments.

  • We do waive this fee in case of an emergency. Which I define as an event or situation that was unavoidable or unexpected. We do require a credit card, that is not an HSA or FSA to be on file in the event that there is a no-show or late cancel.

  • If you cannot physically be present in my office, and have an appointment, but you are available, we may have an online or phone therapy session

Attendance

At the beginning of treatment, sessions are typically held weekly. As progress is made, sessions may be bi-weekly or even monthly, until we end treatment. This is discussed together as a team
